Check your air filter

Always consider this maintenance for your car engine/car cabin to avoid problems and remember that you also breathe air filtered by your vehicle’s internal cabin air filter.

  • First, locate your filter which is situated in the hood of the car. It is in a black rectangular box, which might have metal clips used to keep it closed. You can see it as soon as you pop the hood. If you don’t find it there, then check the owner’s manual for assistance.
  • After locating it, remove the casing and observe how the air filter fits inside. It is important to note the direction of the filter. Make a note of the directions of the filter and remove it.
  • If the filter is mostly clean, you can clean out the debris from your filter by using compressed air. This can improve the life of the filter and help your engine run efficiently. Then place back in the same way.
  • If the filter is dirty, removing it and insert the new filter the same way the old one fit and in the same direction. You will see that it will sit perfectly into it’s housing. (Be sure it’s the correct filter type)
  • Now close the air filter casing after you are done. Make sure it fits correctly, just like the filter. You’re done.

SIGNS THAT INDICATE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR CAR TIRES

1. Understand that the primary function of tread on a tire is to divert water from beneath the tire to improve traction and avoid
hydroplaning on wet roads.

2. Look at the tread pattern. These are small bridges that form between your treads.

3. Check the tread by using the penny test. 2/32-inch minimum tread depth requirement. which require motorists to replace a tire when the tire wears down to that depth.

4. Use a tread depth indicator or gauge. You can use a special tread depth indicator or gauge tool to measure your tires tread.

5. Make note of any improper tread wear, improper inflation pressure, and out-of-spec tire alignment.

6. Check for any abnormal bulges or “bubbles” in the sidewall.

7. Notice a vibration in the steering wheel and check for dry rot. If you see little cracks all over your tires. it means that the rubber is breaking down.

8. Replace the tires at least every 6 years. If you’re not sure. the minimum replacement time that is recommended by the NHTSA is six years regardless of use. with 10 years being the maximum service life for tires.

SIGNS THAT INDICATE YOUR CAR NEEDS CHANGE OIL

Dark and Dirty. Clean oil is an amber color. After a while, the fluid darkens and gets dirty from all of the particles it collects from the engine. Louder Engine Noise and Knocking.

Oil Change and Check Engine Light.

An illuminated oil change light on your vehicle’s dashboard indicates that there’s too little oil in the system. Exhaust Smoke .

It’s common to see a translucent vapor coming out your tailpipe when the weather gets colder. Oil Smell Inside the Cabin.

ARE YOU WASHING (CARS) WEEKLY OR WEAKLY

1. Wash the wheels and tires first. If you splash wheel cleaners or dirt onto your vehicle, you can simply wash it off as you wash your vehicle. Wash each wheel and tire one at a time and rinse thoroughly before moving on to the next one.

2. Always rinse your vehicle thoroughly before you begin washing in order to remove loose debris and avoid scratches.

3. Now you’re ready to wash. Let’s start with clean water and a freshly rinsed container.

4. How to avoid swirl marks? Dip your sponge in clean water first before re-dipping in soapy water to continue cleaning.

5. When rinsing, you don’t have to blast your car clean with the water hose. Free-flowing water (no nozzle) will allow the water to sheet off of your vehicle for a more thorough rinsing.

HOW TO STOP AN ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING

Pull over and open the hood to allow heat to disperse faster.

Do not open your radiator pressure cap (the cap on top of the radiator) while the engine is hot.

Check the coolant reservoir tank (plastic on top of radiator) and fill with coolant or water if needed. If your car has a radiator and no coolant reservoir, you must wait for it to cool
before checking the level of the coolant. Check the owner’s manual or wait for the car to cool before opening.

Look for a leak in the cooling system. If your radiator or cylinder head seem to be compromised, or if you open the coolant reservoir and the levels are topped up, call for help.

Determine whether to drive on or call for help. If the car was simply low on coolant and you were able to refill it, it may be safe to drive on.
